In 1948, master cabinetmaker and furniture architect Jørgen Aakjær Jørgensen founded Møbelintarsia, a family-run furniture company that would become an emblem of Danish craftsmanship during the golden age of Scandinavian design.

@curiousastudio are launching the WAVE CHANDELIER, featuring five textural, hand formed glass vessels threaded onto beams of light. These sculptural lit forms, taken from the WAVE COLLECTION, include horizontal Ripple Beams alongside vertical Crest & Cascade pendants.

Each piece intersects with the other creating a feeling of effortless interplay and suspension.

The textures and colours are reminiscent of weathered glass found on a sea shore. To create this sea worn feel each glass element is blown completely free-style and carefully shaped by hand and eye, without the use of moulds, then part sand-blasted to create contrasts of texture and filmy surfaces.

Introducing the Tutti’s from @curiousastudio

Our latest addition to the Curiousa Collection is the Tutti Stem and the Tutti Globe. Born from a chance experimentation in our studio, Esther Patterson, designer and founder, created the Tutti’s whilst playing with some of the glass shapes from our already favourite light pieces - combining the Tor with the Antonio stem and the Oshka globe.

Esther says: “One of the joys at Curiousa is that we are always experimenting with new combinations. The Antonio stem has such an elegant form and I decided to incorporate this with the charm and simplicity of the Tor shade. The Tutti Globe then swiftly followed to create a complimentary combination, where each design can stand alone or work beautifully together.”

Every piece of glass is hand-blown using age-old traditional techniques and is blown without moulds, being formed and shaped by hand and tool, making every single piece truly unique. Not only is every piece of glass hand blown in the UK, but it is then hand finished and hand assembled in their Derbyshire workshop.

The Glowbules - A Future Heritage Collaboration at Decorex

International renowned designer, Adam Nathaniel Furman has teamed up with British Designer, Esther Patterson, founder of the bespoke, hand-blown glass lighting company Curiousa & Curiousa. Together they bring their skills to create an exciting set of sculptural glass light pieces called The Glowbules.

Adam and Esther were invited by Decorex International to create the range as part of their Future Heritage, a leading showcase for emerging and established talents in British craft, with 10 designers, creating new, one-off pieces to be exhibited at the show at Olympia London, 10-13 October 2021.

Esther says “It was an amazing privilege to be asked to be part of the Future Heritage project at Decorex. Working with Adam has been fantastic as his style is so incredibly distinctive and bold, that it’s pushed me to develop solutions to make his vision possible.

This project has thrown up many challenges, and of course we’ve had to work within our semi-pandemic environment, so these new designs, using approaches we’ve not used before, have taken longer to realise. There have certainly been some nail-biting moments but I can’t wait for everyone to see the final designs - they really will stand out.”

Esther adds “Colour is so central to my work and it’s fortuitous that Curiousa’s pastel range of glass colours work so well with Adam’s inspired colour sensibility. I just love how brave Adam is when he designs - he has such a strong, dynamic vision. He pulls no punches!”

Taking a lead from Curiousa & Curiousa's signature, sculptural stacked pieces and combining Adam’s distinctive and vibrant approach, together Adam and Esther have created four stunning new lighting designs which will form a suitably stunning addition to Decorex International’s Future Heritage

Maxine Hall the designer behind @blackpopuk was inspired after watching Baz Luhrmann’s ‘Moulin Rouge' and responded with the the brands new wallpaper and fabric collection named 'The Damned Damask’. Stylised floral motifs, acanthus leaves, and feathers are seen in rich jewel hues juxtaposed with the signature Blackpop aesthetic fusing traditionalist styles with modern punked up’ patterns.

The pieces in the new Flinders seating range by @handhlondon are influenced by the Arts & Craft movement, celebrating the way the seats are constructed through their expressed frames and natural rope wrap detail.

The family comprises an armchair, sofa, bench and compact low stool. The seating range is suitable for both residential and commercial settings.

Hand made to order, the seats feature an exposed framework of solid timber, available in FSC certified Ash as standard, with Oak and Walnut by request. As a feature, sections of the frame are wrapped with natural sisal rope. The framework supports generously deep upholstery which provides comfort.

The Flinders bench and low stool is available with a sustainable upholstery option, utilising natural materials including coconut fibre, natural latex, wool & cotton wrap and feathers. Selecting this option minimises the impact on the environment by reducing the use of harmful chemicals, plastics and oils as well as being biodegradable at the end of the product's life. Natural materials are also far better for the health and well being of those using the seats.

The bold graphical shapes are influenced by the Pop Designs of the 1960s and 1970s, particularly by the Italian industrial designers Vico Magistretti, Joe Colombo and Achille Castiglioni

The lights are named after a small village in the Cotswolds, close to where Harris & Harris founder Alexander grew up. The family comprises 2 sizes of table light, wall light and pendant for both residential and commercial settings

Hand made to order in England, the group of lights feature bases made from environmentally friendly slip-cast terracotta with white glaze ombre effect. A warm and soothing light emits from the dome-shaped matt opal glass shade, containing a low energy filament style Tala LED bulb. In the case of the table lights, a woven power flex exits the base with an inline switch

Knots Rugs are delighted to launch their first cushion collection into the market.

The 17th Century Classic and Modern are re-interpretations of Polonaise, Mughal, Herez carpets, created in exceptional detail in Persian knot, produced in Jaipur, India.In creating the new 17th Modern Cushion collection, Knots worked long and hard to reflect the quality and detail of the carpets in these stunning new designs.

Over the course of two years they worked with the mills, refining the technique to achieve the attention to detail they were looking for. All the artwork was created and coloured by hand. Curiousa & Curiousa introduce The Antonio Pendant, inspired by The Fabio pendant light, a luxurious glass piece specially hand blown by Murano glass blower Fabio Fornasier.

However rather than being blown in Murano it’s produced locally to Curiousa in Derbyshire by their Master Glassblower.

Interior and product design studio Harris & Harris London has teamed up with the 138 year old stone experts Diespeker & Co to create a contemporary family of tables. The tables are available in a wide choice from Diespeker’s range of marble, granite and terrazzo, including bespoke terrazzo produced at the company’s South East London workshop.
Named REVERSIBLE, the coffee table, side table and console family are produced in two contrasting stones which can be flipped over and turned around to reveal a new aesthetic. This allows the owner to change the feel of their space by moving the tables.

Curiousa & Curiousa take their lighting range outdoors this spring with their IP45 rated lights. Strongly inspired by nature and the floral themes, these colourful hand-blown glass lights and lanterns are naturally at-home in an outdoor setting, but they stand out with their striking bright colours and patterns.

Colourful lights may be a rare sight in outdoor lighting, but designer and director Esther Patterson is known for pushing the boundaries with her designs and is thrilled to now extend her collection outdoors, after receiving IP45 certification. Esther says “As with bathroom lighting, the options have been pretty limited when it comes to lighting outdoor spaces, so we’re thrilled to be able to offer lighting to provide colour and warmth to every part of the home and garden.” Available in 23 glass colours, the range includes pendants, wall lights, sculptural stacks and chandeliers, as well as their Ume Lanterns, launched in 2018, which feature floral designs taken from sketches and photographs of Esther’s own garden.

Knots Rugs present two new hand knotted carpets in collaboration with Blackpop. The rugs are licensed with the Sir John Soane’s Museum, London.
The pieces are photographed in the Sir John Soane’s Museum, London, these magnificent pieces, seen in the context of such an appropriate environment, brings out the designs in all their splendour.

Knots have created the carpet in two qualities, using a multitude of colours. The hand knotted rugs produced in Nepal are made up of a mixture of Tibetan wool and Chinese silk. The Jaipur produced ‘Fresco’ is a Persian knotted, oxidised wool and silk. ‘Fresco' and 'Capriccio', show off the wonderfully eclectic eye of the Blackpop design team, combined with the rich archive of the Soane’s Museum collection.
